The rapid growth of cloud computing, data center and high-performance computing bandwidth has prompted high-speed cables and high-speed connectors to reduce their signal attenuation, and further develop to meet the needs of faster transmission rates, wider bandwidths and higher frequencies. The development of high-speed interconnection technology must rely on simulation tools. The main content of this paper is summarized as follows:(1)The classic multi-transmission line model and the mixed-mode S-parameters for the differential system are introduced. The key points of high-speed cable modeling are analyzed according to the characteristics of the mixed mode, and the actual cable is simplified.(2)According to the actual environment of the cable measurement, define the degree of influence of the complex structure outside the cable on the common mode, and then model the equivalent structure, and study the insertion loss and return loss of the differential mode signal and the cross-mode The act of conversion.Re-analyze the mode behavior in the cable by comparing the results, and finally make the simulation results better match the actual measured values.(3)Simplify the model in(2)to be suitable for fast processing of the differential signal behavior of long cables, and then study the eccentricity of the cable signal line, the existence of air gaps between the dielectric layers,non-ideal shielding layer shape, dielectric deformation,The influence of the material parameters of the insulating layer on the insertion loss, return loss and differential impedance of the cable differential signal.(4)Since cables generally need to work with connectors, based on the review of existing connector research results, the modeling method of the connector is analyzed, and the differential insertion loss and echo of the two connectors are finally given. The loss of the square result is compared with the existing literature results to improve its credibility. This part of the simulation lays the foundation for the subsequent connector optimization and the overall performance design of the cable-connector.
