High speed digital industrial camera (high speed camera) can capture the transient process and record it to playback slowly,then the human can observe and distinguish the high speed phenomena easily or make the data processing later. It is an important equipment for the study of transient phenomena and widely used in the field of scientific test, industrial inspection and military application. High speed camera in foreign has formed a mature industry, but the price is very expensive. And the second development are subjected to the camera, such as the shape, frame rate and single function.Therefore,it is meaningful to research and design a high speed camera for the second development.The thesis uses high speed CMOS sensor, which is LUPA1300-2and researches many key technologies of the high speed camera, such as timing control circuit, high speed LVDS de-serialization and conversion, variable image window size function and dataflow control.Besides,the control unit, which is based on field programmable gate array (FPGA),make the design with the top-down method, using Verilog HDL language.The research works about the key technologies of high speed camera are as follow:1, Make the design scheme of high speed CMOS camera. After the analysis of acquisition, control and transmission, which are the key technologies of camera, and the contrast of the device type, a design scheme of the system is born.CMOS image sensor is designed as the image acquisition unit, FPGA is designed as the control unit, the Camera Link interface is designed as the data transmission interface unit, Camera Link frame grabber card installed in computer is used as data receiving unit.2, Build a platform of the high speed CMOS camera system hardware. It includes high speed CMOS sensor circuit design, FPGA control circuit design and Camera Link interface circuit design, completing the design and debugging of the circuit board under the premise of making sure the function of camera and the high speed signal integrity.3, Design of simulation and verify the hardware code of the high speed CMOS camera system. It contains acquisition and cache of image date based on FPGA, working parameter setting of SPI communication interface, simple image data processing, dataflow control and transmission.4, System implement and test. Connect high speed camera to the computer installed Camera Link frame grabber card. The camera could storage the data with the cooperation of control software.Through the above work, a high speed CMOS camera based on FPGA is completed. The parameters such as frame rate, resolution and window can meet demand of high speed objects. By connecting to the frame grabber card, the camera can transmit image data to memory of terminal computer and store the data. By replaying slowly, the basis is provided for the analysis of scientific research and image processing.
