With the development of fiber communication, people demand higher and higherfacile, conveniency and aptitude in life. The development of pon is given to attention as theprimary Wide Band technology. There are two major technology areas in pon, one isEPON, the other is GPON, however, with the development of FTTH and the requirementwith HDTV, large on-line games and Smart Home, the optical access technology which isadapted to a great deal of data and video operations must be introduced. Consequently, theXG-PON and10G EPON technologys have been produced.XG-PON1is the asymmetric XG-PON and a new pon technology which is based onG.987standard. Compared with asymmetric10G EPON, the upstream of XG-PON1istwice at rate. Because its transmission data adopts GFP protocol format, it has lowcomputation cost and a higher throughput. XG-PON1plays an important role in10G PON.In order to get higher optical divide ratio, enble users to get more average bandwidth andsatify users’requirment, XG-PON1must be energetically developed. XG-PON1ONUoptical module is the core device of the users’equipment. It adopts SFP+(smallform-factor pluggable plus) and it is a pocket, compositive and smart optical module.This paper is intended to design a XG-PON1ONU SFP+transceiver, which is meetinternational standard and its upstream rate is2.5Gbps and downstream rate is9.953Gbps.The paper consists of three parts:Firstly, this paper introduces the development trend of pon technology and status ofoptical modules in home and abroad, briefly describes the correlative standard ofXG-PON1encapsulation and pins definition of ONU optical module.Secondly, this paper expatiates working theory, designing index and scheme of ONUoptical module. And then, it works up five parts such as optical device, transmitting part,receiving part, monitor part and thermal designAt last, it is approved that the performance of the ONU optical module meet orbeyond international standard by experiment and the full thesis is summarized.
