Fiber communication has dominated in communication networks, with extensive coverage of the network and improvement of the communication capacity, the communication link management has become more and more complicated. Optical transceiver module, as an important component in fiber communication networks, hopes that it has intelligent functions to manage the communication link, with the digital diagnosis monitor function, the optical transceiver module is of certain intelligence and can provide convenient and effective monitoring method, making management simplicity.Under the above background, this paper makes a research on small form pluggable optical transceiver module with the digital diagnosis monitor function, analyses INF-8077i protocol, optical module principle, optical module hardware design, optical module underlying software design, and monitor software design, giving a plan and design of small form pluggable optical transceiver module with the digital diagnosis function.In the transceiver parts, optical module use the chip of CDR(Clock Data Recovery),which can make clock and data recovery and make the hardware design simple and cost-effective, in the optical module design of the power access, considering the optical module characteristic of hot plug and play and timing requirement, needed intelligent power management chip to protect optical module, the paper employs microcontroller with high accuracy ADC function to carry on gathering and data processing to five DDM parameters,in order to make the management to the communication link and module monitoring better,through algorithm of temperature table searching,the appropriate DAC data output use in dynamic control TOSA,at the same time,the microcontroller scan and process control,status pin of the protocol requirement for digital diagnostic functions.On the research of data calibration of the five DDM parameters, according to analyze the internal calibration and external calibration of the advantages and disadvantages, and characteristics of the system, choosing internal calibration. Besides, the paper also introduces underlying I2C communication of slave mode, the parallel port simulate I2 C communication protocol, I2C communication of master mode of monitoring software, Flash/EE programming, the optimization of code, and so on. Finally, the paper give a series of testing schemes for some important parameters of optical module, according to repeat testing, the parameters such as OMA, eyes-diagram and receive sensitivity meet the INF-8077i protocol requirements.
