The1990s witnessed a magnificent boost of world economic and its trend toward globalization, liberalization and integration. Container, which emerges as the essential means of bulk goods transportation, shows good prospect. However, the discretion of cargo transportation causes issues of security breach like smuggling, theft and illegal immigration. Logistics information technology calls for cargo transportation of higher quality. Due to the large share of highway logistics in the whole transportation business, the essay focuses on highway cargo transportation.Through the study of GPS and automatic object identification technology like bar-code and RFID, their comparison of real-transportion implementation and the special features and defects of cargo transportation, the essay analyses the apply effect of RFID and designs security surveillance and real-time tracking system for logistics based on RFID technology. The essay tends to build a RFID based electronic sealing, which, sharing the same operation procedure as mechanical sealing, can be implemented on security surveillance and real-time tracking of cargo transportation. Based on radion frequency technology and with unique identification number, it may store information of the car and cargo. Through equipped communication terminals, it may assign the electronic sealing to automobile movement record and send the information to background servers. Customers may achieve security surveillance and information processing for cars and cargos through electronic sealing surveillance system. The system will record accurate information of time, place and operator for sealing, unsealing and alarms of cargos in time, track the movement of the car and the real-time status of the sealing through GPS and upload it to the background server, which may effectively reduce the cost by abnormal event and provide evidence for retracing.
