As the quality of people’s live rise, vehicle ownership is increasing, which caused a seriesof traffic problems, and brought many challenges to traffic supervision department. China istrying to develop Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) to solve these problems, ITS makes thereal-time Intelligent monitoring of road Traffic condition come true, which increased theefficiency of Traffic management, reduce the human and financial resources, and make thetravel in vehicles more intelligent and security. The development of the Internet of things,makes communication between things and things possible, and provides important technicalsupport to the development of ITS. Internet of vehicles terminal system is proposed in thispaper. It is the application of Internet of things in the ITS, and is significant for supervisiondepartment in real-time monitoring of the road traffic conditions, and in timely judgment totraffic incident.Firstly, this article analyses the current development of Internet of vehicles. The Internet ofvehicles terminal system in China is in technology exploring stage, only a small number ofproducts just communicate between human and vehicles, or vehicles and vehicles, also,itsstructure is complex and low efficiency. To solve these problems, this paper using S3C6410ARM11processor as the main controller of the system, to communicate directly with thetraffic control center in the Internet. It simplifies the structure of system, improves theoperation efficiency, and saves the cost of research.To collect the data of vehicles, the system adopts the CAN bus technology which isdesigned specifically for data communication in vehicles, and this CAN bus technology isbased on SAE J1939protocol. Using the Linux Socket CAN implement the applicationprogram,simplifies the design and increase the extensibility of the system. Meanwhile, thesystem collect GPS time and vehicle position by using multithreading, store the data to SDcard based on Linux file programming, and make the reliable connection between server andclient by taking advantages of TCP/IP protocol. Also the system designs a Qt graphical userinterface (GUI) in the terminal, which is able to display vehicle parameters, and help themotorists watch the driving conditions more intuitive and clearly.The system is tested by simulating vehicle CAN bus nodes. According to the result, the Internet of vehicles terminal is able to collect data accurately, and store and send data over theInternet quickly. And also in the server, it receives data accurately and quickly. The effect ofsystem running is good, and meets the requirements well.
