With the rapid increase in road transport network and the rapid development of car prac, traffic safety problem has become increasingly serious. The concept of internet of vehicles provides an effective solution to this problem. The intelligent vehicle terminal is a key part of internet of vehicles architecture. The acquisition and transmission of real-time information of vehicles is the main work of intelligent vehicle terminal. A vehicle terminal based on internet of vehicle is designed in this paper. It can get the vehicle’s own information by GPS and achieve the exchange of information between vehicles by ZigBee to improve the active safety of vehicles.The hardware platform of the vehicle terminal in this paper is composed of main control unit, ZigBee wireless communication module, GPS positioning module and LCD touch screen module. The ARM9 chip S3C2440A is the core of main control unit. It adopts embedded Linux as the operating system and Qt/Embedded as the development software of GUI. The application program of vehicle terminal is written base on Qt and realizes the function of the receiving and analysis of GPS positioning information, the transceiver and processing of ZigBee wireless data, the displaying of vehicle condition information and so on.While the software and hardware design of vehicle terminal is completed, three vehicle terminals are placed on three vehicles for outdoor testing, respectively. Experimental results show that the vehicle terminal can obtain their latitude and longitude, speed and other parameters via GPS module. In the range of 200 meters, ZigBee wireless communication module can effectively interact with the other vehicles. The LCD touch screen can display the real-time condition information of vehicles and its operational performance is stability. The vehicle terminal designed in this paper can meet the requirement of positioning and communication.
