With the development of shipping enterprises, the International Maritime Organization(IMO) puts forward higher requirements in the safety of ship operation, environmental protection,which gradually highlights the importance of ship management. And the ship maintenance man-agement is an important content of ship management, which manages transactions of ship main-tenance management such as manipulating, repairing, and maintaining the machines, and distri-buting personnel and materials, covering the business management both the company on thebank and the ship on the sea, and it is directly related to the safety of ship operation, environ-mental protection and cost. Therefore, it is urgent to develop software of ship maintenance man-agement system.Traditional management software is based on the C/S, even a single unit version, which iscost highly, difficult in maintenance, and difficult to implement cross-platform for small and me-dium-sized enterprises.After the age of computer, PC’s function weakening, a large number of public data serversare connected with each other through cloud computing. And plenty of software use servers,networks and cloud computing to establish a public data service platform based on B/S.This paper introduces the design of the ship maintenance management system based on B/Swhich adopts the modular design thought and adds the module of role management. The clientscan inquire for real-time shipping operation regardless of the time and place through public dataservice platform with the Internet, and provide technical communication and guidance timelyaccording to the time-varying information and prepare materials in advance. And users on theship observe running status of the ship according to their respective permissions, arrange forshipping requirements reasonably and apply to the company in advance for requirements. Finally,the system based on B/S not only improves the maintainability and expansibility, easy develop-ment and safety of the software, but also reduces the operating costs and improves the shippingenterprise management efficiency and the seaworthiness ability of the ship.
