With the rapid development of information technology,computer systems have become more and more important in human life.Digitization,network and information have become the main features of this century.On the one hand,the explosive growth of information demand has brought new opportunities for governments,enterprises and academia;on the other hand,it brought great pressure on information storage,transmission,and processing.Server clustering and blade server technology are an effective way to build high performance and high reliable computer system.These technologies improve system stability of computer system and data processing capability of network data center.However,the large-scale deployment of blade server that are geographically distributed brings great difficulties for system administrator to manage a large number of servers.In this paper,we present and implement a blade server management system BMS based on the existing technologies.BMS is an advanced intellective management software tool based java platform graphical interface and provides basic function interfaces for system administrators to manage a large number of geographically distributed blade servers remotely.The topological structure of BMS consists of three subsystems: user interface,BMS server and ESMU rack management system.ESMU provides functions such as remote management,KVM switching,alarming,real time running status monitoring and so on.The Client of BMS are designed by MVC,the model component of it implements data model definition and network communication and the view component is responsible for data presentation and provides operation interface for users.The experimental results show that the average response time of the blade server BMS designed on the MasterBlade platform is 224 milliseconds,which is an average performance improvement of 87% compared with the original system.In order to meet the demands of industrial standard,we present and implements Out of Band management system based on CAN bus protocol.CAN is one of the most widely used field bus,which can be used to design blade management system with communication real-time character,high transmission rate,low cost,flexible topological structure.Out of Band has completed hardware and software design based on MCP2515 chip.There are data transmissions between a ESMU and 32 blade,a ESMU and multiple switches,blade and KVM in Out of Band.In order to verify the performance of CAN bus communication based on MCP2515 chip,the CAN busbased out-of-band management engine design management system is implemented in the GT4000 super blade computer cluster.The experimental results show that the system meets the system requirements in terms of message response time,number of communication failure messages and CAN communication load.
