In the information era noted by Internet Technologies, as a kind of social resources, information technology has been infiltrated into various aspects of our community and ourlife. Driven by huge business demand and technology innovation, cloud computing isbecoming a kind of new IT service models. The implementation of cloud computing is notonly changing the business model of the enterprise, but also changing the mode of IToperation and maintenance management. Compared with the traditional IT operation andmaintenance management, there are three major changes after applying cloud computing.First, it changes the management from distributed to be centralized. Cloud computingintegrates both the company’s business data and applications to the clouds. From the operationand maintenance management perspective, implementing cloud computing means that theoriginally scattered maintenance works throughout everywhere are centralized to the cloud.Secondly, it simplifies the complexity. Users can access business data anywhere, from anyintelligent terminal by only installing a client software on each terminal. Businessdevelopment becomes easy, as cloud computing significantly reduces the terminalmaintenance work load. Third, it changes the maintenance work becoming process-orientedinstead of technology-oriented. Under the cloud computing environment, who work onoperation and maintenance management are no longer simply concentrate on how to resolvethe problem from the IT department perspective, but rather on a strategic perspective on howto serve from a business point of view. It is no longer "what I can do for IT” but "what’s thebenefit IT can provide to us."However, while cloud computing brings the business convenience to the enterprise, italso brings us new concerns of the daily operation and maintenance: because enterpriseintegrates existing business systems to the clouds, all business activities are therefore relyingon the stability of the cloud. Any accident disaster or problems may lead to system users cannot work, or even destroy the important business information. This may result a significantimpact on corporate social image and brand value, and bring incalculable losses. Theconsequences could be very serious. In spite of this, cloud computing as one of the innovation following the IT developmentis still a hot research topic. However, most of the current research in both China and overseasare majorly focus on the infrastructure topology of the cloud computing. Discussion and researching on the impact analysis on the operation and maintenance management afterapplying cloud computing are relatively few. Therefore, this thesis focuses on the "ImpactAnalysis of the IT operation and maintenance management by applying cloud computing inthe Company M” such a unique, important topics to study. From a management perspective, especially through the case studies on the problems that operation and maintenancemanagement team encountered in Company M when migrating to cloud computing, weconcluded that the standardization of operation and maintenance process management canreduce the chance of cloud failure and also can improve the operation and maintenancemanagement performance, which enabling cloud computing provides users with continuous, stable, and efficient business services. This thesis can not only provide decision-making help for large enterprises on theoperation and maintenance management under the cloud computing environment, but can alsoprovide SMEs (small and medium-sized businesses) with experience references and gain ofenlightenment and inspiration. We believe the research work presented in this thesis willbenefit and promote the development and implementation of cloud computing practice inChina.
