Study Of OTN/PTN Technology Applied In The3G Transmission Network

With the fast IP-based voice and broadband traditional business trends, telecom operators’ network will develope to the direction of the large-capacity, IP, intelligent. For the transport network, the core layer facing massive bandwidth requirements of data services and flexible scheduling; in the aggregation and access layer, the transmission network will be provided with multi-service interface and processing capacity. As the service type carrying in the network changed from TDM to IP, OTN and PTN will become the inevitable trend of technological development in the field of optical transport network instead of MSTP.This paper analyzed the OTN/PTN technical characteristics, studied the advantages of OTN/PTN technology used in3G network, planed packet transmission network construction solutions for Wuhan Unicom. Wuhan Unicom will construct OTN network as a basis to carrying PTN network according to flating form with L2&L3capacity. Compared to the MSTP transmission, packet network bandwidth broadband and flexible, more flexible protection.Finally, this paper studied the application of the PTN and analyzed the type of business that it can carry,such as MPLS L2VPN, MPLS L3VPN and demand for LTE ousiness model.In short, this paper start from the analysis of changes in market demand, combined with the technical characteristics of the packet transport network, come to the formation of a packet transmission network using OTN/PTN technology is the best choice to adapt to the future business development, and for the Wuhan Unicom transmission network status, planned the construction programs of transmission network in core and aggregation layer, provide technical support for MSTP evolution to PTN, play a certain reference value of each operator’s packet network development.
