Water resource is the foundation of construction and development for cities and towns.With the expansion of cities’ scale and improvement of residents’ life quality, water safetyand quality is becoming more and more important in people’s minds. Along with this trend,more Water Treatment Equipments and automatic technologies are brought into the waterfactory that will lead to high energy consumption of the equipments, which is becoming themain cause of operating costs for the factories. As a result, it is particularly important thathow to reduce the equipment energy consumption and create economic benefits on the basisof ensuring the quality of water supply and upgrading the equipment by new technologies.After studying of the existing control style of water factory, DCS (Distributed AutomaticControl System) on the basis of PLC and Field-bus Technology is designed to make thesystem get easily compatibility, upgradability, reliable communication ability and inherit theadvantages of all distributed control pattern----high openness and low-cost, as well as steadysystem structure. After researching the existing water delivery way and analyzing theweaknesses of manual adjusting and constant pressure control, the alterable pressure andquantity pattern is determined as the improving orientation in this paper to avoid thedisadvantages of constant pressure pattern: high energy consumption and serious pipelineleakage when water consume peak fluctuates frequently. Furthermore, with the compare ofmany feasible options in alterable pressure and quantity water supply pattern, time-share wayis chose to realize the water supply of medium and small town(s) for the current situation ofequipment and water network.Based on Siemens S7-300series controller and modules, finish hardware electric design----PLC and a frequency convertor with triple pumps way controls the field pumps. UsingSiemens S7-300programming software, realize the PID adjusting the pressure of watersupply. Configure the HMI monitoring system by Kingview6.55to achieve the goal of easierhuman control. Take the FengXiang water factory for example, the paper analyzes itsautomatic scheme of actual project and discuss the actual effect after using the system which get some beneficial conclusion.Compare with traditional automatic control water supply system, this system has somesignificant advantages: low energy consumption, low operating costs, low leakage of the pipenetwork and high water quality. Consequently, it has a good prospect in the water factories inmedium and small town(s).
