The airborne radar training simulator plays a great role in the current military training, experiment and the academic research, it can improve the efficiency of the institutions, shorten the training cycle, reduce the cost of the study, and a powerful guarantee for the completion of troops flying and tactical training. The subject to a certain type of airborne radar training simulator for the study, improve and perfect the function of the training simulator, focus on the modeling and simulation of the airborne radar simulator PPI display pictures. The article mainly includes the following aspects:(1) First it introduces the development of radar simulator domestic and overseas, analysis the modeling and simulator of the basic theory and radar works. Secondly, it introduces radar training simulator’s the composition and function of a certain type of radar training simulator, the problems of the operating system, development environment, programming language and the simulator network communication.(2) The design and simulation of the airborne radar simulator’s PPI display, including the design of the character and graphic display. Then proposed to solve the key technical problems of the PPI display, including radar clutter point display of the trace and the sector scan, and using the approximation method of a specific probability density and the random number with autocorrelation function to simulate clutter points display.(3) Simulate the radar failure pictures with the radar self-test principles. The fuzzy subordination method is introduced in the model of the radar fault generation. Which is attached to the relevancy of the radar generated the practical fault. Display the fault on the platform, it is based on the difference of the operation and threshold of the radar high and low priority faults.(4) Analysis of radar detection principle in combination with the simulator to build the radar detection model. It is affected with many factors, such as the relative position of the carrier aircraft and the target, the pitch angle of the radar antenna, radar vertical and horizontal beam, the curvature of the earth, atmospheric humidity and so on. Radar detection model is divided into three categories based on these detection factors to establish the mathematical model of with the radar detection principle. (5) To simulate the flight path of the aircraft with different of the flight path, heading direction, speed, height, and beginning and ending latitude and longitude, etc. The control platform using the dialog box to sets up the targets with different flying routes, then it sends the information to the display platform, the targets is suited the detection conditions, which are display on the PPI.This article simulates the display pictures with the VC++6.0, and using the dialog box of MFC to set up the parameters of the aircraft and targets, to send the data to the display platform. The touch screen buttons to operate the interface of the display platform. The simulator has major military and economic benefits for the training of troops and the teaching of colleges.
