Effective integration and use of manufacturing resources, makemanufacturing enterprises be able to respond quickly to market. As anadvanced manufacturing paradigm, Cloud manufacturing platform is trying toprovide users with on-demand manufacturing services.This paper proposes a virtualization model VMMR which is based onvirtual resource class template. Manufacturing resources in cloudmanufacturing are featured by multiple variety, huge amount and differentfunctions. For this reason, the virtualization model describes manufacturingresources by classifying according industries and classes. On one hand, theuses of class template provide function-similar resources with standardizeddescription forms. On the other hand, different template can be defined todescribe different kinds of resources to express their unique characteristics.By analyzing the data organization of virtual manufacturing resources,design a manufacturing resource query language VRQL. VRQL introducespath-expression and range-expression into WHERE clause. Attributes ofdifferent data types are handled in different ways. The design andimplementation of language interpreter and interactive query interface hasproven the feasibility of the query framework.The research results have been applied to project “The R&D of CloudManufacturing Service Platform for Small and Medium Enterprises”. Designand implementation of the prototype system has proven that the virtualizationmodel is feasible and correct.
