Study On The Utilization Of Electronic Resource In Hebei Academic Library

In twenty-one century,Humans have entered the information age.With the rapiddevelopment of computer technology and network technology, large amounts of informationsand digital resources,the structure of the library resources have changed greatly,making thetype of Iibrary information resources develop from a single paper to the co-existence of avariety of electronic information and bibliographic information,and the information resourcesof digital resources is becoming the main content. The construction of a database of resourceson teaching and research also play a huge role in promoting this, which change library users’reading behaviors and approaches to acquire informations, more and more popularity of allclients gradually become the main source of aceess to information and intelligence.Database construction have become an important part of library collections,and it is also thefundation of library digital and network. To meet the changing information environment and tomeet the diversity of users’requirements,various types of university libraries at home and abroadin the original collection of traditional policies made a big adjustment,from a new kind ofinformation resourc—digital resources into the main building collection developmentpolicies.Database of electronic resources draw attention by all types of Iibraries both domesticallyand internationally as special and very important digital resources.The development of electronicresources construction of universities’ libraries in our country is far behind the electronicresources market, develop and research of electronic resources policy is still in fragmented state;the domestic electronic resources accounted for the total funding ratio is lower than abroad,despite libraries of universities increase investment this year th, but the increase is slow.In the context of the study,the National University Library began to focus on theconstruction of database resources seriously,a time which sets off a nationwide “database ofheat”wave.However,the construction of database resources is not easy,nor copying thedevelopment model of other museums.In the database construction process,if not “tailor”,notto overall planning,will inevitably bring about some negative effeets,such as the duplicationof database resources,acquisition process after the database in use,because the database librarypropaganda is not enough user information literacy levels of the existence of missingfactors,resulting in low utilization of the database.Database can not be effectively used,which will inevitably result in the database of their resources to buy a waste of money.Therefore,thelibrary should take effective measures in the database construction and use of theproeess,according to the actual demand planning,database development,through awarenesstraining to improve the quality of the user aceess to information,so that a reasonableconstruction of the database is used to make the rich database of electronic resources inteaching and play a greater role in research,truly maximizing the benefits of thedatabase.Under this circumstance,how to purchase and use electronic resources and how tobetter meet the needs of readers become the great opportunities and new issues which thelibrary is now facing.In view of this paper,it chooses forty-two Hebei academic libraries,based on thecomprehensive results and previous theoretical studies related to resource development anduse of domestic and international database based on practice.Questionnaire research methodsare used by a brief analysis of the problems during its construction and use ofdatabase.According to the actual situation of schools and libraries,this paper puts forwardsome feasible solutions accordingly.First,this paper introduces the collection database types and the contents of Hebeiacademic libraries by and Iarge.On this basis,this paper researches some situations of thedatabase constructed and used in Hebei academic libraries.Then,by investigating the library staff,this paper found some problems to be solved in theprocess of database construction and use such as database resource duplication ofconstruction,special database resources fragmented,resources were not effectivelyshared,document delivery services carried out by small,and so on.The paper analyses thereasons of these problems spcifically and in depth.Finally,on the basis of this comprehensive analysis on this paper before,this paper putsforward constructive solutions to these problems which are related to recommendations such asco-purchasing database through muti-channels,strengthening the integration and development ofthe virtual collection resources,constructing the characteristic database in union,looking forwardto heIping Hebei academic libraries’ database resource development and utilization.
