Research And Analysis On The Implementation Of PDA In Academic Libraries Of Hebei Province

The quality of traditional library collections is based on the number of collections as the evaluation standard,but the evaluation of modern colleges and universities is no longer simply based on the richness of collections as the main evaluation standard,but into a more multidimensional consideration.The utilization rate of library’s literature resources reflects the level of collection quality to a certain extent.In order to cope with the shortage of funds and the low utilization rate of collections in academic libraries,the new literature resources acquisition mode named PDA,namely,the reader’s decision-making procurement,comes into being.Based on the literature analysis method,taking the traditional literature interview method is difficult to meet the growing needs of readers as the breakthrough point,taking the practice of foreign mature PDA mode as an example,combining with the deep integration of Web2.0technology and library service,and starting from publishers,library distributors,libraries and readers,this paper points out the research background of PDA mode in academic libraries and the significance and feasibility of PDA mode for the construction of literature resources in university libraries.Secondly,on the basis of defining the concept of PDA,supply chain management theory and literature information resource selection theory are introduced.In addition,the relationship between publishers,library distributors,libraries and readers is explained,and the investigation object is determined on this basis.This paper focuses on the investigation and study of the current situation of PDA construction in academic libraries in Hebei Province by means of network survey and interview.Through browsing the official website and We Chat public number of academic libraries,the time of PDA implementation,the type of literature for readers,the cooperative booksellers and service groups of libraries are obtained.Guided by the theory of supply chain management,this paper conducts interviews with four groups of publishing houses(upstream),library distributors(midstream),libraries(downstream)and readers(downstream).Based on the interview results,it finds out the shortcomings of the current implementation of PDA mode in the backbone academic libraries in Hebei Province,outlines the important factors affecting its implementation in universities in Hebei Province,and puts forward corresponding countermeasures to improve its service level.The survey found that in the process of implementing PDA in academic libraries in Hebei Province,there are some problems,such as fewer cooperation platforms,fewer optional books,readers ’ enthusiasm needs to be improved,the development mode needs to be diversified,and the rationality of readers ’ purchasing books needs to be improved.Combined with the interview survey,it is found that factors such as library service level,library ’ s emphasis on PDA mode,restrictions on readers ’ selection and readers ’ information literacy level will affect the development of PDA mode.Therefore,improving the service level of PDA in Hebei academic libraries still needs to be given external and internal attention.Improve the copyright protection system from the outside,promote the digital process of publishers;from the internal need to improve the library service level,increase the PDA service platform,improve the richness of literature resources;relevant countermeasures such as enhancing the level of readers’ information literacy and establishing a reasonable mechanism to ensure the selection range of readers will help promote the implementation of PDA model in universities in Hebei Province.
