Sales is the locomotive and engine of the enterprise development, which relates to the normal operation of enterprises, especially for the tobacco companies. On the one hand, along with the cigarette brand integration of the tobacco industry, the competition in the commercial market is increasingly fierce; On the other hand, after China’s accession to the WTO, tariffs on tobacco products gradually reduce, at the same time, tobacco quota and permit system gradually relax, the foreign tobacco industry is to seize tobacco market further. Under the double pressure of competition at home and abroad, the domestic tobacco enterprises use the commercial sales data analysis to make decisions and to guide their production and sales in order to make bigger and stronger enterprises on the condition that steady market position, is a problem to be solved before them.According to the actual situation of Guangdong Tobacco,this paper analyses and shows the relevant things of the commercial sales, using data warehouse and OLAP technology as a tool, hoping that it is able to provide useful information to the enterprise managers and guide the development of enterprise.(1)First, the paper studies the data warehouse and OLAP research status at home and abroad, especially the applications in the tobacco industry. Then, it sketches the data warehouse and OLAP technology.Based on the overview, the paper analyses the needs of the commercial sales data warehouse and divides the big theme of the commercial sales into three sub-themes:commercial purchase, commercial sales and commercial inventories. Then, according to the sub-themes, it analyses the indicators and dimensions which are related using the information package diagram as a tool.(2)On the basis of the analysis of the demand, the paper continues to design logical and physical models of commercial sales data warehouse. In the design of the logical model, the relations between the fact and dimension tables are established succinctly and clearly through the star model, which lays a good foundation for the physical model design. In the design stage of physical model, it defines the physical structure of the dimension tables and fact tables. At the same time, it outlines the way of data storage and indexing strategies etc. Finally, it explains a three-tier structure of the commercial sales data warehouse system, DB-ODS-DW.(3)Taking the two examples of commercial sales analysis OLAP modeling instances, it focuses on the OLAP dimensional modeling of four steps. And it researches and analyses how to apply the OLAP modeling into practice on the basis of the data warehouse and can help to make decisions. Finally, it describes the effect of the commercial sales analyses.
