The wireless sensor network is typically located within a certain area, composedof data acquisition nodes, which are able to collect sensor data, and data aggregationnodes, which are used to transfer sensor data to the server though ad-hoc networks.Wireless sensor network have had a great impact on military defense, biomedicalengineering, environmental monitoring, industrial monitoring and smart home. In thefuture it will change all aspects of human life and production.Acquisition nodes are important parts of the wireless sensor networks and the coreof sensor data acquisition. This paper, based on ZigBee technology and theindependent research of wireless sensor network communication protocol stack in ourlaboratory, designs and improves the acquisition nodes to get better the performanceindicators of its size, power consumption, cost and energy management, which is veryimportant for large-scale applications of wireless sensor networks. This paper gives the analysis of the insufficiency of the original design by therequirements of the design of the wireless sensor network and put forward the newresearch content and design indexes. According to the design index, it introduces thedesign scheme of hardware and the criteria for the component selection. This paperalso includes the design of the PCB and the mechanical out casing. About the softwarethis paper briefly introduces the main processing of the software and someconsiderations that should be taken in the programming. Finally, the whole test processand results of the wireless sensor network are given.Compared with the previous sensor nodes, the designed nodes in this paper arelower-cost, smaller, and require lower power consumption, easier for installation andcan work steadily within a long time. Most commonly used sensors and also be addedto the designed nodes with very little work, which is very suitable for mass productionand application.
