With the development of the times, there is an increasing demand of information. People’s interactions with the physical world are also becoming more frequent. As a collection of information sensing, processing and transmission, Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) developed rapidly. In recent years, WSN has solved many problems in the field of medical. However, a new kind of scientific management method is urgently needed to manage the usage and circulation of some controlled drugs, such as anesthetic in China. This paper proposed an effective solution for drugs management which can reduce the manpower cost and improve security. It implements the function of safety storaging, fetching, monitoring and managing the controlled drugs. The system has high practical application value.The designed system is set up by using ZigBee wireless communication technology, which can detect whether the fixed positions are occupied by the bottles of medicine, figure out the quantities of these bottles. The system is helpful to monitor people’s behavior of fetching and putting back the drugs and can make records automatically. The network is composed of sensor node, sink node, and PC manager node. Micro switches and CPLD are used to collect the data information. One receiving module (CC2430) gathers the information from seven delivery modules (CC2430) and sends the information to the manager node via wireless RF transmission. The host computer analyzes, displays, and saves the received data. The system is designed as a cabinet to storage all the hardware devices, using touch-screen tablet computer as a host computer. And fingerprint identification module is used to ensure the safety. The following three aspects are discussed and researched in the paper.(1) The paper analyzes the requirements, develops a set of solution and designs the workflow of the system. The system includes a data acquisition unit, a data processing unit, a wireless transmission unit and a PC display control unit. The paper also realizes the design of sensor node, sink node and manager node.(2)The paper achieves the hardware design of the system, including circuit design and hardware selection of sensor, microprocessor, wireless communication module, host computer, electronic lock and fingerprint recognition module, and using software Autocad to design the structure of cabinet.(3)The paper completes the software development of system, applying Verilog HDL programming language to develop CPLD, using ZigBee technology to build wireless network and realize CC2430wireless communication, and choosing VB as programming language to build an information management system in PC to display the real-time data, and set up a database to store data.
