The rapid development of MEMS, sensor technology, modern network and wirelesscommunication technology, promotes the development of modern wireless sensor network.Nowadays, Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) that is highly crossed by multi subjects receivesmuch concern in international and becomes newly arisen and most forward research hotspot.It consists of plenty of sensor nodes and forms ad hoc network by wireless communicationmode with the advantages of self-organization and data-centric, and has a wide applicationforeground in the domain of military, environmental monitoring, medical care, industrycontrol and so on. Currently, the wireless sensor network has many communication mode,including Bluetooth, ZigBee, UWB and so on, among which ZigBee uses low power and lowcost as main goal and fully considers the demands of low cost, low power and high faulttolerance in WSN. ZigBee is the first solution in Wireless Sensor Network.This paper firstly introduces the related basic knowledge of Wireless Sensor Networkand ZigBee, then proposes the application of ZigBee in temperature monitoring system andpresents the overall scheme. The hardware and software of the system are analyzed anddesigned in detail. The system employs TI’s CC2430single-chip solution for the hardwaredesign of temperature monitoring nodes, and introduces the selection and design methods ofdata acquisition module, microprocessor and other peripheral circuits. Based on the Z-Stack,the software design includes node design, low-power and network communication protocoldesign, and system management program design, which implements the data transfer betweenwireless network and monitoring computer. Moreover, the networking of ZigBee wirelessnetwork and routing are researched and explored in this paper, and focuses on the process ofnetwork formation, nodes join-in and out of network, address distribution, routing discoveryand routing algorithm of mesh network, and presents the implementation scheme and solutionof network layer. Finally, this paper sets up the system of ZigBee wireless temperaturemonitoring, and carries out the system commissioning and performance testing. The resultsshow that the system is in good condition and has fine networking ability and optimizedrouting algorithm, which achieves expected effect. The experiment proves that ZigBee can effectively implement the application in low-power Wireless Sensor Network.
