Due to the rapid development of integrated circuit technology and manufacture, there are usually some similarities between different projects. At the same time there is inevitable conflicts, so how to effectively reuse of good design experience、solve project conflicts、better and faster to complete the project becomes the key consideration of most companies. The methodology of project’s management becomes more and more important for these companies. Time management, as the three elements of project management (quality, schedule, and cost) one, its importance is indisputable. Application time management theory could help to optimize the design project can be very good to complete the project or even shorten the project cycle, and also help the sales staff and customers to have a more accurate time of the product plan. Time management has an extremely important significance for the development of the enterprises.In most software design company, the main methodology of project time management is critical path technology. It’s often been decided by positive forward path. Usually the general design flow is:circuit design, layout design, validation, and deliver to customers. If the project is independent, it’s very reasonable to use critical path to set the schedule of the project. And we could get the most optimal results. But actually there are often multiple projects simultaneously. It has been proved that using critical path technology for each project will cause a serious delay. It’s because when many projects are carried out at the same time, there are conflictions on the availability of resources.In this paper, with PDK development, I introduce the basic theory of project time management, and then do analysis for the existing problems of PDK projects in time management, also give some corresponding recommendations and discuss about the techniques of project time control. In order to solve the existing problems of PDK project time management, the technology of the chain of key path based on the theory of constraints is used for the PDK design project time management. It’s proved to effectively improve the efficiency of project development. Although the study was limited to HES PDK project, but it could be referred by a lot of other EDA software companies、IC companies and foundries.
