Describe On Metadata Of The Value Of Archival Web Information

With the web popular and rapid development, the web information resourceshave gradually become indispensable in modern society. More and more countriesbegin to attach great importance to archive and preserve the web informationresources. The web information resources’ quantity and mode of growing determinesthe general archival preserving project that must adopt the archival selectionautomatically. In order to realize automatically archival and selection, it need toestablish a screening system based on the value of web information. This papercombed the basic theory on the value of web information, summarized up theconstituent elements and influence factors of the value of web information, learned ofthe related metadata framework, built a metadata scheme on the value of webinformation. To realize the value of web information’s description automatically,prepare the ground for selecting archival web information.This paper firstly combed the theory related to the value of web information,such as, the Labor Value Theory, the Dual Value Theory, the Web Effect Theory andthe Long Tail Theory. Secondly, based on these theories, summarized four aspects ofthe constituent elements on the value of archival web information from theinformation source, the information content, the information format and theinformation effectiveness. Thirdly, analyzed the metadata standards with Dublin Core,EAD, GILS, Premis which is widely used in connection with web information. As areference, the author points the metadata description scheme including22elements onthe value of archival web information. Finally, the author put forward two kindmethods of realizing the value of archival web information, which is embedded in thevalue metadata with the HTML Head Tag and described with the XML Schema.This paper combed the theory basis of the value of web information, archivedconstituent elements on the value of the web information, learned of the relatedmetadata framework, built a metadata scheme on the value of archival webinformation. In order to realize the value of web information’s descriptionautomatically, thus embedded in the value metadata with the HTML Head Tag anddescribed with the XML Schema. Through these studies, it aims to expand theresearch field of the web information resources management and promote the practicedevelopment on the archival web information.
