With the rapid development of the logistics industry, logistics information technology requirements continue to increase, the logistics industry restructuring is imminent. As an important way for increasing the level of logistics information, to promote the transformation and upgrading, construction of logistics information platform is particularly important. In the construction of logistics information platform, data resource is the key and there is an urgent need for a method which can manage and use data resources efficiently. This thesis introduces the concept of metadata in the construction of logistics information platform, and the data resources management in the logistics information platform management is realized through the method of making metadata, it has great significance to the construction and the use of logistics information platform.This thesis studies and realizes the application of metadata and metadata maintenance tools in logistics information system. Firstly, a set of metadata specification in logistics information platform was established based on the standard of metadata. According to the standard of metadata, a set of metadata management tool for logistics information platform was developed; it realized the function of metadata extraction, query, storage and maintenance. Secondly, an application mode for theme metadata was developed which is based on template, it provided a the scalability, easy maintenance way for theme metadata input, finally, a logistics information platform interface for third party develops was provided which is based on metadata. Developers can find and access to the data resources in logistics information platform through the metadata, the implementation of this interface provided a simple and easy development environment for developers.This thesis focuses on the application of metadata in logistics information platform, has formulated metadata specification, developed metadata management tool, provided application and extended function, and make the application of metadata get good results.
