Software Project Management Research And Practice

As software application scope is more and more widely, the scale and complexity of the software has been greatly improved, the directing theory for the software development is also becoming richer. And most of them are from the perspective of engineering development process-oriented management framework or theory. However, the failure rate of software projects is still very high, some analysts believe that the main reason for failure is poor management rather than technical reasons. Therefore, the application of project management in software development projects increasingly gained more attention. The perspective of software project management is the management rather than technology, treat the project as a whole thing, not just the development process. It includes project planning, execution, control activities, in order to ensure that the project is the completion of the scheduled cost, schedule, and quality.This article describes the overview of the development of the project management theory and basic summary of the theory, and analyses the differences between software projects and traditional project. Then it makes a preliminary study of the key area in software project management, including process, schedule, cost, quality, risk, team and etc. Finally, by means of a BOSS development projects, the project management method was put into practice. In practice, according to the large-scale system and small-scale development team, used agile methodologies. And the entire project was split into several subprojects, to each subproject applied project management. Good results were obtained in the practical application.
