With the rapid development of social economy, city construction process continues to accelerate, with the improvement of people’s living standard; construction of water supply system in residential area is one of the important aspects, water supply reliability, stability, economy directly affects the normal work and life of the residents. We live in the district especially many old residential water supply equipment automatic control system configuration is relatively low, the manual operation unit control mainly relies on duty to control, control process is tedious, manual control cannot realize the pressure in the pipes and the water level changes in a timely manner to make a timely response. So choose a meet user requirements, design specifications, safe, reliable and economic way of water, puts forward new requirements to the design of the water supply system.Combined with high-rise residential water supply system requirements, design a set of water supply system based on German Siemens S7-200series programmable controller. Water supply system consists of a programmable controller, water pump, pressure sensors, thermal relay, liquid level sensor. This design to realize the whole automatic control through the liquid level control tower, with advanced, reliability, economy and practicality.The water supply system has automatic/manual operation modes. By two kinds of operation mode can be realized respectively on three pumps control. Using star-triangle step-down start soft starting of three-phase pump motor, using the "two a" run mode. The thermal relay is used to detect whether the motor overload, short circuit fault, the pressure sensor detects the water pump outlet pressure; liquid level sensor detects the water tower water storage capacity; PLC, relay, contactor control running state of water pump units, to achieve the requirements of the water supply.The control plan of overall system is design based on the above requirements. The hardware equipment selection, PLC selection, estimation of the required I/O points, I/O module selection, drawing the system hardware connection diagram:including system hardware configuration graph, I/O graph, I/O distribution points, list the I/O allocation table, skilled use of the software, the design of ladder diagram of control program, debug and modify the program.
