Research On Search Engine Optimization Of Library Website

In recent years search engine optimization (SEO) is one of the most important technologies in the network information service. Through the search engine optimization technology, certain information service website can be promotion to the front of the retrieval, thus it is easy for the users to find and visit the website when they use a "key word" to retrieval. With the arrival of the internet age, more and more information users will use search engine as the entrance of the information query. The library website is the most important resource and service window of the digital library. Search engine optimization for library website will be one of the methods to enhance the chance to be visited and play the advantage of resources and services.This paper analyzes the development of search engine optimization and its application in libraries first. Through the literature survey, this paper found that current research of search engine optimization focuses on algorithm improvement and methods of the optimization for the company website.In the base of theories, such as information architecture, the theory of user behavior and search engine marketing, this paper introduces the technology and method of SEO detailedly. The main effect factors and technology are:website content, website structure, head tags, setting of the url, web links, key words, site navigation. The author analyzes the important of the SEO for library website. Then this paper investigat and test the SEO situation of the domestic211university library websites. The survey shows most of the domestic libraries don’t pay enough attention to SEO. The construction of English homepage, relevance to the old site, retrieval system, site navigation, the title tag, the chain,and static dynamic web pages are weak. To a certain extent, these influence the search engine to its findings and sort, and impact the website information promotion.According to the SEO theory and technology, the author designs a tool which named SEOmonitor by the JAVA language. This tool mainly includes web analysis function, data statistics function, and website analyses function. Its main character is high efficiency of acquirement and data analysis. Contrapose baidu and google, the selection of the corresponding key words, SEOmonitor can analyse and research HTML code according to the factors of ranking factors module. In addition, SEOmonitor can test a chosen website, which can be compared to other web sites. So the author can find out the differences of the SEO element between the different websites. SEOmonitor can analysis each SEO factors which influences the rank of library website in high efficiency.The last, through analysing the result of specific application of the SEOmonitor, combined with the characteristics of library web site resources and information service,this paper summaries the key SEO factors in the digital library website design process.it is respectively:web domain name, URL Settings, key words, web site navigation, head optimization, web links, PR and so on.The innovation of this paper maybe that the application of SEO theory and technology to digital library website,the survey to the websites of university library, designing a tool which can analysis SEO status of the library website, and then giving some construction suggestions, etc.These will have some guiding significance.
