A Study On Multi-Agent Intelligent Search Engine With Its Application In Libraries

With features of convenient, fast, easy-to-use, Search Engine runs as a widely used net tool which is generally accepted by public users in information society and network environment. But as the explosive growth of information, disadvantages of Search Engine, such as the low ratio of precision and recall in retrieval, lack of humanistic service, were exposed in using and made lots of users experiencing kinds of difficulties. And according to the development of society as well as science and technology, Artificial Intelligence technics combined with Search Engine make birth of Intelligent Search Engine. Intelligent Search Engine are welcomed by the majority of net users for its particular characteristics of intelligence, humanization and learning, with functions of constantly improving and strengthening in retrieval.In addition to the application in traditional information retrieval, Intelligent Search Engine has been applied to almost every aspect of information social services. Library's status as Information Center has been shaked by the appearing of Internet, and now library information services have been influenced by Intelligent Search Engine once more. In the information society and the network environment, this article aims to explore whether library can cooperate with Intelligent Search Engine, so as to make full use of their superiorities and advantages and also get new development in information services. After a detailed analysis on the characteristics of multi-Agent technology and Intelligent Search Engine, this paper builds a Multi-Agent Intelligent Search Engine, and makes mainly research on its application in library service work, in order to provide theoretical instructions for domestic library works to make further development.This paper, firstly, introduces the concepts and features of Search Engine, Intelligent Search Engine and Agent; secondly, describes the structure and work processes of Multi-Agent Intelligent Search Engine, discusses the functional structure of each Agent in Multi-Agent Intelligent Search Engine; then analyzes the advantages, impacts and significances of Multi-Agent Intelligent Search Engine in library application; finally discusses several applications of Multi-Agent Intelligent Search Engine in library works, including information retrieval, library humanized information services, novelty search service, reference and consulting service, and concrete implementation of crossover cooperation between Multi-Agent Intelligent Search Engine and library. Main innovation of the article: compared and analysised the advantages and disadvantages of search engine and Multi-Agent Intelligent Search Engine; summed up the characteristics of Agent technology fully and systematically; built a Multi-Agent Intelligent Search Engine, which is based on meta retrieval, information retrieval, data mining technics and Multi-Agent collaborative strategies; analysised and researched the applications on Multi-Agent Intelligent Search Engine in library service works, especially the concrete implementation of crossover cooperation between Multi-Agent Intelligent Search Engine and library.
