As a basic routine work in colleges and universities of China, TextbookManagement is an important part of the Educational Administration Management.Because a wide range of large amount of data is involved in Textbook Management, itis a time consume and error-prone work process, so the digitized TextbookManagement System will undoubtedly play a very important role in the promotion ofthe efficiency of the Educational Management and the construction of the digitalcampus. Several kinds of Textbook Management Systems have been put into usecurrently, but there still exists many shortcomings. Overall, most of the current webbased Textbook Management Systems are basically design based on Web1.0mode inwhich users are limited in the textbook manager. In this mode, data only generatedfrom the small number of users, and the most onerous tasks still should be completeby the textbook managers in the textbook planning stage.On the basis of in-depth analysis of the college textbook management, focusingon solving the drawbacks of previous systems, the project aims at developing aTextbook Management System to cover the whole textbook management processincluding not only the recommendation of textbook and its review task in the earlierstage, but also the settlement task after the delivering stage of book to achieve thesystematization and automation of whole process. Moreover, the system is designedbased on Web2.0internet mode with a richer content, more connection and strongerinstrumentality. Both of the function and architecture of this system are extendible.Furthermore, the factors such as the response speed and security are taken intoaccount in the designing of this system.Architecture with multiple layers based on the Java EE platform is design for thissystem based on the actual requirements of one college in Hainan. The interaction ofclient and server is implemented with JQuery and Ajax. Serlvet and JavaBean areemployed in the implementation of business functions. The persistent layer isdesigned based on the Hibernate framework, and the connection pool is used tooptimize the management of the database connections. With the purpose of improvingdata transfer efficiency, JSON is used to transfer data in the interactions with users.Seven functional modules are contained in this system: user management module,textbook planning module, textbooks’ entering warehouse management module,delivery management module, settlement management module, log management module and permission management module.
