This investigation was performed by investigators and trainedresearchers. Questionnaire were distributed and gathered together, each clinciancompleted it by himself. Adopt the statistical software of SPSS17.0to analyze. Thedata collected were analyzed by means of frequencies, correlations and stepwiseregression. Results Investigation has been made on709clincians by use of self-made Scale forOccupational Stress on Clincians, Symptom Scale (SCL-90) and Simplified CopingStyle Questionnaire (SCSQ) at the same time. The results are as follows:(1) Stresses emerging from work burden and doctor-patient relaitonship are the majorsource of the occupational stress on clincians. The general feeling of the stress ofclincians from the difference of age, education background, and ocupational satisfaction turns out to be rather significant.(2) While encountering the stress events, the clincians mainly coped with them actively. The most frequently utilized coping styles were “look on the bright side” and “find outseveral different methods to solve the problem”. There were significant differencesbetween genders, titles education background, and ocupational satisfaction in copingstyle.(3) The level of mental health of clincians is remarkably lower than that ofaverage domestic population. The difference is represented by such symptoms asimposition, physical symptom, hostility, depressed and so on. There exists significant positive correlation between the degreeof occupational stress and the level of mental health. There were correlations betweencoping style and mental health.(5) Stress and coping style affect the clincians’ mental health effectively.Mental health is closely related to sex, titles, stress from interpersonal relationship andwork burden, active coping style and negative coping style. Of these,“coping style” hadthe most power. Mental health of male clincians was better than female teachers. Ifclincians were high title of them was bad. Stress from interpersonal relationship andwork burden and negative coping style resulted in bad in mental health. However, coping with stress actively would enhance the level of mental health of the clincians. Conclusion Stresses emerging from work burden and doctor-patient relaitonship arethe major source of the occupational stress on clincians. While encountering the stressevents, the clincians mainly coped with them actively. The level of mental health ofclincians is remarkably worse. The difference is represented by such symptoms asimposition, physical symptom, hostility, depressed and so on. Occupational stress and coping style affect the clincians’ mental health effectively. Mental health is closelyrelated to stress from interpersonal relationship and work burden, active coping styleand negative coping style. This paper analyzed and discussed the above results and, based on results of investigation and the reality of clincians’ work, made suchsuggestions for lessening the occupational stress on clincians and improving theirmental health at the social, institutional and personal levels as follows. First, societyshould be concerned with clincians and attach great importance to their considerablyhigh degree of stress and relatively low level of mental health. Not only should researchon this matter be strengthened, but also effective measures should be taken to actuallylessen the stress on clincians and to protect and improve their mental health. Second, management of hospital should “untie” the clincians, lighten the work shares on themand create a favorable work and psychological environment for them. Third, clinciansthemselves also should develop a sound understanding of their stress and make full useof proper tactics so as to lessen their sense of stress and enhance theirpsychological defending ability.
