BackgroundAs the economy rapidly develops and social competition intensifies, the pace of life greatly accelerated, and people are working under increasing pressure. Work stress has become an important factor affecting people's mental health status. For practitioners of medical institutions, high pressure and high-load occupation that requires great dedication. On the one hand, the tension between doctors and patients has intensified due to the continuous reform of the health care system, the implementation of the system of inverting the burden of proof, people's increasing awareness of the legal system and their health status, and the heightened expectations from patients and the whole society on the quality of medical services. On the other hand, the fierce competition and heavy clinical and scientific research tasks have led to a long-term high level of mental stress, and cause medical practitioners prone to fatigue, distraction, tension, emotional instability and other conditions which directly affect the efficiency of medical practitioners. It could even lead to great losses of practitioners, and thus affects the development of hospital disciplines as well as the retaining of qualified personnel, which eventually hinders the development of hospitals and ultimately bring great losses to the health of patients. Therefore, it is very important to understand the occupational stress of medical practitioners, which is of great significance to help building harmonious doctor-patient relationships, creating good medical environment, and facilitating the sustainable development of hospitals.Research ObjectiveIn this paper,1000 medical practitioners from five public hospitals in Ji'nan were randomly selected as the research object. Self-evaluation questionnaires were used to investigate the aspects of occupational stress, coping style and mental health status. The distribution of stressors, coping style and mental health level are further compared in terms of different gender, age, titles, work age, and income, in order to explore the correlation among mental health, occupational stress and coping style. The aim is to provide more targeted and timely help strategy and coping style for medical practitioners, to reduce their occupational stress, and to provide a more effective and scientific basis for mental health prevention, intervention and improvement.Research MethodFrom November 2015 to March 2016, a questionnaire survey is issued to medical practitioners in five public hospitals in Ji'nan using a two-stage random cluster sampling method. In order to ensure the accuracy, reliability and confidentiality of the data, the questionnaires are issued and collected by professional handlers on-site. Epidata3.1 is used to establish a database, and the data is entered and verified by professional personnel. SPSS 17.0 is used for statistical analysis. Statistical analysis methods, such as x 2 test, t test, and variance analysis were used. If p is less than 0.05, the result is considered statistically significant.Result1. Medical practitioners' career satisfaction is relatively low, and the overall occupational stress level is relatively high. The pressure sources that cause most stress is organization management, external environment and workload. Different age, educational background, professional title, working age, income and pressure sources of the different dimensions of the difference was statistically significant. There are significant correlations between different age, education, job title, work experience, income and differences in stressors (p<0.05).2. SCL-90 scores of medical practitioners were higher than those of Chinese norm. There is a certain degree of mental health problems among medical practitioners, as they are prone to somatization, terror, coercion and other aspects of mental health problems.3. Medical practitioners mainly take proactive approaches in coping with pressure. There are significant differences in the coping styles of medical workers with different positions, different educational backgrounds and different incomes (p<0.05).4. From the analysis of the relationship between occupational stressors and mental health of medical practitioners, all the other dimensions display a significant positive correlation with mental health factors.5. The coping style of medical practitioners is closely related to their mental health status. Positive coping style and negative coping style respectively have negative and positive predictive effects on the mental health status of medical practitioners. Conclusion and suggestionMedical practitioners' mental health status is not optimistic. The whole society should be concerned about and pay attention to the occupational stress of medical practitioners. On the one hand, the government, the society and hospitals should endeavor to cooperate in terms of policy support, public opinion, and management measures, in order to create a good working and psychological environment. On the other hand, medical practitioners should correctly understand their pressure, strengthen professional knowledge, improve self-cultivation, use appropriate coping style to reduce stress, and improve their psychological defending ability with correct attitude and great responsibility.
