Objective:To acknowledge the relationship among the occupation pressure, psychological health state and coping styles of pediatric nurses. Methods:This paper is a descriptive study.280pediatric nurses of large general hospitals were collected from2013September to November using cluster sampling method. They were requested to finish general information questionnaires, nurse job stressors tables, coping style questionnaires and symptom checklist90questionnaires (SCL-90questionnaires). The data collected were used for statistical analysis and processing using the SPSS17.0software.Result:①The occupation pressure of pediatric nurse is in the middle level, the highest score in the investigation of pediatric nurses’ occupation pressure is workload and time allocation (2.39±0.64), the lowest score is managerial and interpersonal dimension(1.82±0.43).②Scores of pediatric nurses’positive coping styles were (31.99±5.44) higher than that of negative coping styles (27.07±5.00). There were significant differences in scores of different titles, marital status, graveyard shift and coping styles (P<0.05).③There were116pediatric nurses getting more than160points in SCL-90, accounting for46.2%of the total280people. Among the116respondents, there were66people with scores between160to199, accounting for26.3%,36people with scores between200to239, accounting for14.3%, and14pediatric nurses getting more than240points, accounting for5.6%of the total number. Result shows scores of each factor in SCL-90for pediatric nurses are higher than those of the national nurse norm. The scores data of pediatric nurses’ mental health collected with different ages, work ages and marital status have statistical significance (P<0.05).④There are significant correlation between pediatric nurses’occupation pressure of all the factors and their mental health status, namely the higher working pressure they feel, the more scores they will get in SCL-90. Therefore their mental health is correspondingly worse. Each factor scores of SCL-90is negatively correlated with positive coping style (with the exception of compulsion, hostility, psychotic symptoms) and is positively related to negative coping style. The total score of each working pressure dimension is negatively correlated with positive coping style while it is positively related with negative coping style (P<0.05).⑤Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the nursing care of patients, negative coping, two variables into the regression equation, two variables combined explained variation of mental health status of16.1%.Conclusion:Pediatric nurses’working pressure lies in the medium level. And the main coping styles of pediatric nurses are positive, Pediatric nurses’ mental health is lower than the norm. There is a correlation between the occupation pressure, coping style and mental health of nurses in pediatric. Influence factors of pediatric nurses’ mental health is the main nursing care of patients with negative coping style, has certain prediction on the mental health status of pediatric nurses.
