Studies On Correlation Between Parenting Style And Mental Health Of Nursing Specialty Students

With the increasing focus on the mental health of the college students, the mental health of the nursing students academy also arouses more and more. Good psychological quality not only for nursing students studying at this stage of life, but also for its future development, and even the health effects of the patient. Therefore, emphasis on the psychological state of nursing is a necessary condition to improve the quality of students, but also their future work.Research purposes:Our main purpose is to study the mental health of nursing students at different education levels of Shanxi Medical University. Study the relationship between mental health and parental rearing pattern of university students in order to provide a theoretical basis for college mental health education, counseling and treatment. It also provides a theoretical basis for the introduction of expanded school mental health.Research object:A total of 528 different education levels nursing students coming from Shanxi Medial University were investigated. Among them 28 were boys, 500 were girls, 182 were arts, 346 were science, 207 were urban, 321 were rural, 65 were only child, 463 were non-only child, 168 were junior, 300 were undergraduate, 60 were postgraduate.Research Method:528 nursing students at different education levels of Shanxi Medical University were clustered and stratified. They were investigated with SCL-90,EMBU,SCSQ and basic state questionnaire. The data was analyzed by SPSS 13.0 for windows. To understand the mental health of nursing students at different education levels made correlation analysis and regression analysis with parental rearing pattern and coping style in accordance with the survey result.Research results:1. The mental health of nursing students was significantly poorer than that of the national norm but is better than normal college students. The prevalence of mental problems of nursing students was 1.14%. There are significant differences concerning the mental health of nursing students with regard to gender, grade, educational background and living area.2. There are significant differences concerning the parenting style of nursing students with regard to gender,living area,the only child or not,educational background and parental education level.Male fell more father's punishment and over-involvement.Urban students fell more parents emotional warmth, rural nursing students fell more parents favoring subject.Relative to junior, postgraduate students feel more parents emotional warmth,but less father's strict-punishment, over-interference, rejection, overprotection and mother's over-interference, overprotection. Relative to undergraduate, postgraduate students feel more father's emotional warmth, but less father's strict-punishment, overprotection. With the increasing of parents'culture degree, nursing students feel more emotional, but less strict-punishment, rejection, overprotection and favoring.3. There are significant differences concerning the copying style of nursing students with regard to gender and educational background.Active coping style are used more often for male. Relative to junior, active coping style are used more often for postgraduate nursing students.4. The total of their mental health had significant negative correlation with father's emotional warmth and had significant positive correlation with father's strict-punishment, over-involvement, rejection, overprotection, mother's strict-punishment, rejection and negative coping.The parents'emotional warmth of nursing students had significant positive correlation with positive coping. Father's over-involvement and mother's rejection had significant negative correlation with positive coping. Father's strict-punishment, favoring, rejection, overprotection and mother's rejection, strict-punishment, favoring had significant positive correlation with positive coping.The parenting style and coping style of nursing students has a direct or indirect influence function on their mental health. Negative coping, father's overprotection and mother's over-involvement would directly affect the level of mental health, but positive copying would indirectly affect the level of mental health.Research conclusions:1. There are certain problems on mental health of the nursing students. There are significant differences concerning the mental health of nursing students with regard to gender, grade, educational background and living area.2. There are significant differences concerning the parenting style of nursing students with regard to gender, living area, the only child or not, educational background and parental education level.3. There are significant differences concerning the copying style of nursing students with regard to gender and educational background.4. The significant relativity was found among mental health of nursing students and parenting style, copying style.5. The parenting style and coping style of nursing students has a direct or indirect influence function on their mental health.
