The Clinical Research For The Treatment On Polyneuropathy By Fo Shou Tong Bi Decoction

Object: This study aimed to give comprehensive evaluation in the treatment ofpolyneuropathy using Fo Shou Tong Bi Decoction, therefore providing a new approachusing traditional Chinese medicine for further treatment and finding objective basis forclinical practice.Methods:60qualified patients suffered from polyneuropathy have been selected fromGansu Provincial Hospital of TCM from June2012to Sep.2013and randomly divided intotwo groups: treatment group and control group. The treatment group (30cases) was given FoShou Tong Bi Decoction and basic treatment: Vitamin B12(muscle column,500ug per time,Qd),Vitamin B1(oral administration,20mg per time, Tid). The control group was given basictreatment only. Both groups were under observation for4weeks. Security indexes (bloodroutine exam, urine routine exam, stool routine, ECG, liver function, renal function and sideeffects during administration) and indexes of therapeutic effects (symptom scores, sensorydisturbance scores and nerve conduction velocity) were scored and evaluated before and afterthe treatment. SPSS17.0was used for statistical analysis during the treatment.Result: Total effective rate in the treatment group and the control group was93.34%and70%, respectively. Symptom scores, sensory disturbance scores and nerve conduction velocityare apparently improved in both two groups (P＜0.05), but there were significant differencesbetween them(P＜0.05). During the observation, there were no adverse events and thesecurity indexes were all in the normal range.Conclusion: This study shows that Fo Shou Tong Bi Decoction has superior clinicaleffects in polyneuropathy treatment. It can apparently improve the symptom scores, sensorydisturbance scores and nerve conduction velocity without any side effects. Therefore, Fo ShouTong Bi Decoction can be popularized in clinical treatment.
