Background: The nurses’ resignation makes the shortage of nurses in hospital.Nurses are very important to the patients’ health and recover progress,therefore, theoccupational boredom and resignation intention among nurses arise worldwide attention.When there is a shortage nursing personnel, the records of clinical adverse eventsincrease significantly. Previous studies report that the nurses’ resignation intention is ina high level. A research about the nurses’ resignation in New Zealand which is made byFinlayson demonstrates that most of nurses are not satisfied with their job, theyexpressed the unsatisfactory of the heavy working pressure and lower salary,and alsotheir further resignation intention.Purpose: To illustrates the situation of contract nurses under working pressure,occupational boredom and resignation intention. Providing a general picture of nursingsituation for the administrator to find effective solution.Methods:Using questionnaires and collecting statistical data. The research lasted fromAug.2011to Dec.2011, distributed400questionnaires to contract nurses in4different“the2nd degree and grade A” hospitals.Finally,365questionnaires were effective,withthe efficiency rate of89%.The data were analyzed by SPSS statistical software(version13.0).The statistical methods included descriptive statistical analysis, One-way ANOVA,Chi-square test, Rank-sum test, Pearson correlation analysis and Multiple linearstepwise regression analysis.Results:1.The characteristics of demography 356contract nurses come from4different “the2nd degree and grade A” hospitalsin Jilin province. The results:the age of the contract nurses range from20to42y, theaverage age is28y. The proportion of the nurses who gets married is higher than that isunmarried, it’s54.2%.48.1%of them have received a college education. Their averagesalary is1800yuan a month.64.6%of them are professional nurses.48%of them workin medical department,33.7%of them work in surgical department.2.The scores of the working pressureAccording to the scores of the pressure rank, the first group is workload andtime-assignment, the score is3.22; the second group is nurses’ daily work, the score is2.75; the third one is the patient’s nursing, the score is2.48; the fourth group is workingenvironment and resources, the score is2.46; the fifth group is management andinterpersonal relationship, the score is1.99.3.The scores of the occupational boredomThere are three dimensions of occupational boredom among contract nurses:emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and professional efficiency, with the scores of3.51,3.66,2.02respectively.4.The scores of the resignation intentionAmong the356contract nurses, intention of leaving hospital scores2.58, intentionof quitting the nursing profession scores2.60.5.The analysis of the influence factor on resignation intention among contractnurses5.1The variable of demographic characteristics and resignation intentionAccording to One-way ANOVA, the research demonstrates that the resignationintention have statistically significant difference(P<0.05) in different age and incomes.The total resignation intention of the nurses who gets married is higher than that who isunmarried. With the Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis, the degree andincomes are the factors that influence the resignation intention.5.2The impact that working pressure has on resignation intentionBy means of Pearson correlation analysis, it illustrates that the working pressure ispositively correlated with the resignation intention,it has statistically significantdifference(P<0.05).5.3The impact that occupational boredom has on resignation intentionThrough Pearson correlation analysis, it illustrates that the dimensions ofoccupational boredom, emotional exhaustion, and depersonalization are positively correlated with the resignation intention(P<0.05),. The dimensions of occupationalefficiency and resignation intention has negative correlation (P<0.05),. With theMultiple linear stepwise regression analysis, the occupational efficiency is the majorfactor that influence resignation intention.Conclusions:1.The research showed that the resignation intention among contract nurses is atmiddle level.2.The variable of demographic characteristics have impact on resignation intention,different age and incomes are the factors that influence resignation intention.3.The overall working pressure among contract nurses is at middle level, it ispositively correlated with the resignation intention. The heavier the working pressure,the higher the resignation intention.4.The occupational boredom among contract nurses is at high level, it is positivelycorrelated with the resignation intention. The higher the occupational boredom, thehigher the resignation intention.5.Working pressure is positively correlated with the occupational boredom. Theheavier the working pressure, the higher the occupational boredom.6.The research indicates that working pressure and occupational boredom canpredict further resignation intention,we can decrease the resignation intention andoccupational boredom by reducing the working pressure among contract nurses.
