The aim of this study is to estimate the job satisfaction and turnover intention of contract nurses in ShanDong province; to analyze the effect of work-related environmental factors on job satisfaction and turnover meaning of contract nurses.The study collected informition with questionnaire by filling out anonymously on the basis of informed consent. Stratified sampling within the scope of the Shandong Province, according to a different hospital level, choose departments according to the different sections of internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, emergency outpatient, intensive care unit and so on. Then randomly selected contract nurses to fill out questionnaire for information collection.The Satisfaction Scale Zhengxu Juan amendments Kalou Trask/Miller Satisfaction Scale, the turnover intention the measurement into Shou Zhen amendments Brough and Frame departure tendency questionnaire,the work environment scale with the Lake Environment Scale nurses. Data using SPSS18.0for statistical analysis.Results:(1) contract nurses has such population characteristics as younger in age, college degree, short working seniority,the main are female from which the married precedes the unmarried and mainly are primary title;(2) The score of contract nurses turnover intention in Shandong Province was1.79±0.78, turnover intention Ⅰ (turnover intention in the past six months) got the highest score (2.08±1.05);(3) The score of job satisfaction was3.50±0.63, benefits was the least satisfied subject(2.84±0.96), and colleagues was the most satisfied one(4.17±0.61);(4) There were negative correlations between Job satisfaction, dimensions and turnover intention(r=-.270~-0.521, P<0.01);(5) There was a negative correlation between working environment and turnover intention of contract nurses (r=-0.393, P<0.01);(6)There were significant differences of turnover intention between different genders, marital status, educational background, different job departments, there were significant differences in contract nurses, turnover intention between nurses with or without children(P<0.05); Also contract nurses with lower income had more turnover intention. Conclusions:(1) Contract nurses in Shandong Province, the lowest benefits satisfaction and the highest satisfaction in their relationships with colleagues; strongest intention to quit in the past six months.(2) The dimension of their job satisfaction and turnover intention showed a significant negative correlation between the control and responsibility, the strongest correlation between benefits satisfaction and turnover intention;(3) There are differences between different gender, marital status, different qualifications, different positions and titles turnover intention. Male, married, bachelor’s degree, intermediate grade, shift work, low-income contract nurses turnover intention than female, unmarried, college degree, junior titles, day shift, higher income contract nurses. To this end,we need to carry on reforming the management model for nurses, from scientific setting nursing positions, the rational allocation of the number of nurses, improving the performance appraisal system, strengthen pre-service training, protect the legitimate rights and interests of other,improving working enviroment for nurses to lower turnover intention of the contract nurse.
