The northwest of Shandong Province is located on the lower reaches of the Yellow Riveralluvial plain, the mainly drinking water is the groundwater. Due to special geological conditionsof the region, fluorine and iodine in groundwater is generally high and that was easy to causewaterborne fluorine and iodine poisoning, this region suffers harm serious. In order to protect theregion’s people’s drinking water safety, and reduce the probability of endemic diseases, Landsurveying and mapping school in Shandong province carried out a project:“Geologicalenvironment investigation and evaluation model of water supply for high fluoride high iodinearea of LuXiBei areas in Shandong Province”. Relies on this project, the paper analysis andevaluation the groundwater resources in this region, in order to provided scientific basis tolooking for suitable drinking water for different areas.First fully understand the hydrogeological conditions in the work place, and consult previousresearch results, and choose the proper hydrogeological parameters, then calculate the deep andshallow groundwater resources by using the method of water balance. The result shows that theworkspace of shallow groundwater in equilibrium, the selected parameters for calculation isreasonable. According to the calculation results, we can determine the workspace of shallowgroundwater supply capacity:The water supply ability is weak in northwest and southeast area,and it is strong of the central region; the capability of water supply of deep groundwaterimproves from southeast to northwest. Then send the175shallow well and75deep well samplesof field investigation for testing, divide the workspace on the basis of the different of fluorinecontent, iodine content and degree of mineralization. So we can determine the distribution ofwater quality. Comprehensive analysis the last three data, we can confirm the area of well qualitywater and calculate the resource. The area of well quality shallow water is scattered, it mainlydistributed in Liaocheng, Gaotang, the west of Guanxian and the southeast area along the Yellow River; the area of well quality deep water is concentrated, mainly distributed in the southeastarea along the Yellow River. Finally we get the water supply planning by analysis variousfactors: The shallow and deep groundwater in northwest of working area are bad, these areas aresuitable for surface water; the quality of shallow water in west of Guxian,Liaocheng andGaotang is well, it can be used for drinking water applications; the deep water in southeast alongYellow River is well, and it is fit for drink. The results can be used to find suitable sources ofdrinking water, if we do, it can effectively reduce the occurrence of endemic diseases.
