The Second Area of Yang Changwan Mine is located in the Ningdong town of Lingwu City of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Most of the surface in mining area are covered by sand and water resources are poor. Due to a long period of exploitation, water quantity is diminishing and the groundwater has been unable to meet the needs of the production and the development of the mine. Water shortage for production and living has become an important issue of constraint of mine's development. Therefore, the study of the project can make scientific and rational water supply plan for the mine and thus, providing a scientific basis for the coal resources development, water resources utilization and harmonious development of the society. On the basis of collecting systematically the materials of the physical prospecting, the geological drilling and the water pumping experiment of the mine, geological structure ,aqui- fers and other hydrogeological condition of the minefield have been detailedly researched. Finally, the conclusions that geological structure of the mine is simple, aquifers belong to the aquosity small rock layer, hydrogeological condition is simple, were drawn.By means of the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, the water quality environment of the different aquifers in the mine area was evaluated. According to "Life Tap Water Health Standard" and "Ground Water Quality Specification", each kind of water was in V level and not suitable for drinking purposes. At the same time, using the same method to assess to the pollution factors of the underground water in this mine, we found that SO42-, chloride, fluoride, ammonium, total hardness, dissolved solid content were all in V level pollution factors.Mining water quality is characterized by high salinity, high dissolved solid contents and more suspended solids and high oxygen demand. Using the single indicator evaluation and the third kind of surface water standard value determined by "Surface water Environment Quality Standard" (GB3838-2002), the chemical oxygen demand of mining water exceeded 4 times of the allowed figure and fluoride 2.2 times exceeded the allowed figure. Compared with the centralized drinking water of surface water standard limitation of supplementary items (GB3838-2002), the chloride exceeded 5 times, sulfate exceeded 6 times and nitrate 1.4 times exceeded the allowed figure. Finally, through the analysis and research, two kinds of water supply plans were proposed. The first water supply program is comprehensive treatment of mining water. The second one is to develop new water sources. After comprehensive comparison, the author suggested to use the first option.
