With the rapid development of science and technology, overlapping and integration between the disciplines has become an important trend in the development of modern discipline. Higher education as a subordinate discipline of the educational discipline, because of its academic attributes—combining theory and application, determine the higher education is a multi-disciplinary research field. In recent years, the discipline of higher education continued to absorb the knowledge of other related disciplines, and continue to the evolution of new branches through their own internalized, gradually becoming more mature discipline in higher education; at the same time, the related knowledge of higher education radiation to the other related disciplines, to promote the development of other disciplines. Therefore, the study of higher education as a discipline standpoint, and do detailed research is of great significance and far-reaching impact.This paper studies for the higher education and as the theme of 2008 journal articles on higher education form the CSSCI database for the data source. First, we count and analyze the references and cited literature of these articles according to the classification of subjects and years, and sort and count these data. The co-citation relationship between higher education and other relevant disciplines is quantitative analyzed through the use of citation analysis and the subject correlation formula.The paper speculates the infiltration and derivative trends between disciplines and finds which disciplines play an important role in higher education development; at the same time, we analyze the cited sources of the higher education and its subject characteristics to prove the source of its information and distribution.Second, we use the visualization software Netdraw to map out the network diagram, including: reference and citation network diagrams, based on social network theory and graph theory, and do visualization research on the co-citation relationship between higher education and other related academic disciplines , according to the overall composition from the subject, disciplines within the composition, citations and other aspects, so as to reveal the interaction relationship between higher education and other related disciplines.Finally, we use the method of content analysis to study the related topics and areas of the references and cited references of the higher education subject and related subjects, then classify the data based on the statistics of what subjects and areas is cited by higher education and what subjects and areas is cited by other related disciplines. Thus we can really provide the basis for drawing up information management program of disciplines and development plans according to content development, subject characteristics and subject knowledge transfer, so it is an active exploration for the development of higher education.
