In recent years, reports on figures has increasingly become one of the most important report forms in newspaper and magazines. Most of the magazines choose to fill their covers with the pictures of news figures; interviews and profiles of the figures also have become regular columns. To investigate the reasons, on one hand, great wealth of information makes readers prefer personalized stories and perspectives; on the other hand, people in the period of social transition expect to make self-identities by the reference of others’activities. Unfortunately, researches on the operational modes of the reports on figures are rear, and unable to provide enough technical assistance to the frontline journalists.Combining the research methods of case studies and text analysis, the thesis analyses the features of the reports on figures in "Portrait" with the theory of narratology. Based on the latest researches of narratology theory home and abroad, the thesis tries to conclude of the narrative techniques of reports on figures from the angles of narrative structure, narrative time, narrative perspective and narrative strategies, in order to provide practical paradigms to news writing practices and researches.
