It has been over a decade since Southern People Weekly published its initial issue on 15 th Junes 2004. During the past ten years, its unique style of figures reports has earned it not only reputation and social benefits, but also economic profits.The chief editor of Southern People Weekly once classified the genres of its figures reports into five catalogues: narrative, dialogue, review, feature and research. Among them, narrative and dialogue are the most commonly used. Among them, common used dialogue figures faces lots of controversy in the media industry. For example, dialogue figures should be used in news reports or not,and is able to keep objectivity and show the professional ability of journalists or not.And the paper mainly focuses of these problems. This paper chooses altogether 27 issues from the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Southern People Week as its research objects, that is, nine issues each year. And it uses content analysis, Sampling survey and individual interview as its main research methods. In contents, the paper tries to make research of dialogue figures’ importance, content structure and characteristics, relationship between subject and object and their roles, and the applicable object of dialogue figures, etc. The paper at last tried to analyzing the "Southern People Weekly" dialogue figures’ strengths and weaknesses as well as giving suggestions, hoping can be able to fill the research blank of the dialogue figures, and drive media to make progress actually.
