Water supply pipe network system is a complex and large system. It not only has the attribute information of the pipe network, but also has geographic information and other information. With China’s rapid economic development and the depth reform of the water supply industry, the scale of urban water supply networks is increasing and the management is more and more difficult. To further meet the requirements of the modernization of the water supply network, large volumes of spatial data and attribute data need to be handled and graphical information and topology modeling of the water supply network equipment need to be managed. Traditional manual management has been difficult to meet the business management of the water supply needs. Combining the GIS technology and computer technology and establishing the GIS-based water-supply systems are inevitable.(1) Analyze the current situation of the domestic and foreign water supply GIS. Introduce the GIS development platform and development of the water supply and introduce the component GIS development deeply.(2) Complete the system design from requirements analysis, structural design, functional design and database design. The system is based on the C/S architecture and divided into three layers including the application interface layer, the intermediate logic layer and data layer. Using geodatabase to store the spatial data into the RMDB, which achieves unified management of spatial data and attribute data.(3) Introduced the data structures and topological relations of spatial data and analyzed the basic data structure of the spatial analysis, spatial index and spatial query functions. Realized the map vectorization and three-dimensional modeling of the pipeline and designed the water supply pipe network equipment symbol library according to Arc/Info symbol library.(4) Developed the water-supply system based on Arc/Info platform using SQL Server database and C#and realized the graphics editing, information inquiry, statistics and system management functions of water supply pipe network system. Achieve the equipment point management and squib analysis function of the system. The equipment point of information is stored in a file format hierarchical fixed path to the server to achieve the best performance of the database; Establish the macro model of the pipe and use Figure breadth-first traversal algorithm to close the valves after the burst happen to minimize the loss.
