There are complex structures, large-scale water-supply systems in every city. Water-supply pipe network is the lifeblood of urban construction,the management of city pipe network is the essential part in urban planning and urban construction. Geographic Information System (Geographic Information System, short for GIS) is a kind of space information system that is based on the data of collection, storage, management, analysis and description of the whole or part of the Earth's surface and space-geographic distribution, as well as the data of geo-spatial information and database attribute. GIS has a wide range of applications in resource surveys, environmental assessment, disaster prediction, land management, urban planning, post and telecommunications, transportation, military, police, water,electricity, public facility management, agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, statistics, business and finance etc. With the recent development of computer technology, WEBGIS based on Internet / Intranet is one of the new trends of GIS technological development. Based on the summary and analysis of urban water supply network information system, this paper focuses on the research and implementation of how to effectively realize the design of urban water supply networks by the typical application of Taicang water treatment Co., Ltd. GIS-based urban water-supply pipe network information system. This paper summarizes mainly from the following areas:i. Summed up the whole framework of the city water supply network system from the needs, structure, function, configuration of city water supply network system ;ii. Summerize the graphical modeling of the pipe network system by AUTOCAD, Solid Works design, 3D modeling, Photoshop post-processing;iii. Summerize the applications of WEBGIS in the pipe network system through the overall structure, functional design, database design and other aspects of distribution system WEBGIS.Besides the application and realization of water supply pipe network information systems in the same industry, This paper has a strong practical significance in achieving multi-media imaged in GIS multimedia environment.
