As the national economic grows, city develops and modernization improves, thewater supply network expands increasingly in steps, but owing to the pipelineunderground very complicated and lacking the data documents or some data missing,some pipelines are searched for by the original field workers only from their memories,which caused many mistakes in design and some accidents in course of constructions.The thesis takes the development and establishment of Changzhou geographicalsystem of water supply network as the basement, analyzes the current main geographicalsystem platforms, focusing on the geographical information system chosen up inapplication, mainly by analysis and comparison on GIS, consequently find a solution togeographic information system of water supply network on the basis of MapGIS. Itsummarizes the basic functions of the system, system design and led-in system of sortsof data, in addition it epitomizes in details the development processes and practicalexperiences intercourse of the geographic information system of Changzhou water supply network.The system design has achieved its desired result, now was in application byChangzhou CGE Water Co., Ltd. on the planning, construction and maintenance on thechangzhou network of water supply, the system works well and is quite agreeable andacceptable.In the end, the thesis addresses some ideas for further work on the geographicinformation system of water supply network, looks forward the development andprospects on the setting up the information system in water supply companies, so as torealize the basic line of the city water supply supported by science and technology inmodernization, set up the geographic information system (GIS) and SCADA systemwhich consists of network pressure, water flow and water quality test. By using thecomputer software to simulate the dynamic network water hydraulics and waterquality(i.e. network hydraulic model), so as to realize the network operation of waterdispatch in scientific way.
