There has been much breachthrough in echo simulation technology ofsynthetic aperture radar in recent years, but the traditional controller of echosimulator is mostly to platform design of single chip microcomputer and DSP. Itwas complex, large time delay, and internal control is not flexible enough, thetransmission speed is not up to the requirements, and so on. With the rapiddevelopment of programmable logic devices, in the speed of data processing,hardware resources are more flexible than the DSP and have more competitiveadvantage.The controller of this design based on FPGA, and around the SAR echosimulation system storage rate and storage capacity to expanse, through theanalysis of echo simulation technology to improve the system performance, to doa more in-depth study in echo simulation system design and developmentaccording to FPGA, and determined the package of SAR echo simulation systemfor the implementation of high speed and large capacity. Finally, designed andimplemented the SAR echo simulator for meeting the system requirements. Ihave completed system hardware design of function and structure. With tools ofAltium Designer09,I completed the design of system interface module.This paperhave introduced the method and whole process of SAR echo simulator throughthe FPGA hardware platform. According to FPGA high-speed parallel processingability and the characteristic of hardware implementation, using the method ofcombination of schematic diagram and verilog language design, and IPMegafunction design resources are widely used in the embedded design, to makethe resource allocation more reasonable, design become more optimization,culminating in the Altera Stratix series chip SAR echo simulator.The experimental results show that, the simulator system is stable andreliable, has reached the various performance indicators of the predetermined requirements.
