At present, as the virtual reality technique is becoming more mature, the design and implementation of the virtual campus don’t have any problem, so that virtual campus roaming systems are born both at home and abroad. But the complexity of reality scene brings big files, which leads to such questions as unideal browsing experience and unstrong virtual feeling of the network. This system puts the emphasis on the research of3d virtual scene optimization and roaming system construction. Through the model optimization and roaming settings, it can make the system get smaller file, and at the same time, ensure good browsing experience and more lifelike virtual reality, besides, it has promoting values and lays the foundation for desktop roaming system, digital campus construction and the construction of the digital city.This thesis mainly takes the virtual campus roaming systems of Zhejiang Automotive Vocational and Technical College as its carrier, and states the details of the whole process from the data collection to roaming system release. Through a series of choosing and making tools, beginning with the collection of campus plane data and buildings data, data processing, using SketchUp to make3d model, using3dsmax to render and bake, using Virtools for roaming system construction and release, etc, it finally realizes the virtual campus roaming system. In the process, the main problem is how to reduce the three-dimensional model surface numbers and how to set up virtual campus roaming system. This thesis uses the method of mapping instead of building to reduce surface numbers, uses BB in Virtools to construct roaming system. The actual test results show that under the premise of virtual effect, the formed file is only more than30megabytes, and greatly satisfies web browsers’needs.The main content and results of this thesis are: (1) Design the system according to the overall function target of virtual campus. The system adopts B/S development pattern and uses Virtools as a design platform of roaming system. It is combined with the tools such as3dsmax, SketchUp to combine the model and the function of the system. It makes the system open, maintainable and expansible.(2) Dealing with the original data and texture mapping, it researches and summarizes the methods of direction for face image. In addition to using AutoCAD and Photoshop to process drawings and maps, it also summarizes a method of using SketchUp to get forward map.(3) Research the method about reducing the surfaces of three-dimensional model and optimizing model quality. It mainly adopts the mixed modeling technology, which is characterized by "model produces image" and "image replaces model", combining with the advantages of geometric modeling and image modeling technology.(4) Study the method of realizing the virtual campus roaming. It implements the collision detection and uses3d frame to control operation camera, which is released to be suitable for web page file format.
