This paper made a full use of the software Multigen Creator to research and explore the technology of3D digital campus, with a combined technologies of computer graphics and spatial information sciences, taking Nanchang Hangkong University as an example. Through data acquisition, data processing and3D modeling, a vivid3D campus scene was built, and some functions about digital campus was realized. The importance of this technology involves school enrollment and vocation, education publicity and thorough display of the school whole ability. Main work in this paper includes:(1) Preparation of plane data.2D plane picture was produced using the software AutoCAD, after complete measurement and positioning about the campus terrain and all kinds of buildings by GPS-RTK.(2)Production of surface features and terrain texture. For surface features, skew correction, image scaling, denoising palette and other treatments was executived on the pictures of campus buildings taken by digital cameras. The data obtained after the perfection of image processing software was finally used as a texture data of surface features. For terrain texture, the resolution of the downloaded image data of Nanchang Hangkong University from Google Earth meets the needs of this article, the height of the date from aerial is100meters.(3)Construction of three-dimensional model. Various buildings, trees, street lamps and other model buildings on the ground were completed in software Multigen Creator with the data prepared. While the surface model was synthesized by triangle mesh digital elevation model which combined with point by point insertion method and divide-and-conquer algorithm.(4)Scene optimization and integration. Using technologies such as instantiation and extra references, the three-dimensional scene was optimized. And through the integration, Nanchang Hangkong University virtual campus scene was completed.
