Circuit simulation is necessary for circuit design. With more complicated circuitstructure and larger circuit scale, device model, simulation precision and simulationtime should be taken into consideration. Pspice model for Optical coupler is oftenneeded in circuit design and simulation in the area of power electronics. However, somespecial optical couplers, like optoisolator with triac driver output, are not included in thesoftware device libraries yet. A Pspice model of optoisolator with triac driver output isbuilt here based on the Pspice/ABM tool. The model parameters are obtained byoptimized co-extraction method to improve their precision. Finally the Pspice modeland an application circuit are analyzed by Pspice. The contradiction between simulationprecision and simulation time is also discussed with the PLL synthesizer that is designedin this thesis. In the section of the PLL synthesizer design and analysis, the principle of PLLsynthesizer is introduced in this thesis. The noise transfer function and noise source ofthe building blocks are also analyzed. A PLL synthesizer which has a band of5.15GHz~5.35GHz is designed based on TSMC0.18μm process for wirelesscommunication systems. In the part of system design, the behavioral model of the PLLsynthesizer is constructed using Matlab/Simulink tool. After that the design parametersand the function of the synthesizer are verified using this model. In the part of circuitsdesign, the principles and practical circuits of voltage-controlled oscillator, ΣΔfractional divider, phase detector, charge pump and loop filter are discussed. Both theadvantages and non-ideal effects of these practical circuits are also studied. Theimproving techniques are presented to eliminate these non-ideal effects. The circuitdesign work is completed in the Cadence design environment based on these principlesand the results are given at the end of each part. Finally, co-simulation method isdiscussed to solve the problem about how to lessen the simulation time of large-scaleintegrated circuits at GHz. And the results show that this method can have a goodtradeoff between simulation time and simulation precision.
