Wireless sensor network(WSN),which is made by the convergence of sensor,micro-electro-mechanism,modern networking and wireless communication technologies, is anintegrated intelligent communication system with the function of information sensation,gatheringand processing.Thus, it is becoming more and more popular.The appearance of6LoWPAN makeseffort to solve the problems that block the integration of IPv6and WSN.After analyzing thetechnology of IEEE802.15.4and IPv6, this thesis provides an in-depth study of6LoWPAN and itsrouting protocols.Firstly, packet format of the adaptation layer, and the two functions of the adaptation layer,including packet fragmentation and reassembly, header compression and decompression of IPv6and UDP are discussed in detail.Secondly, it makes focus on the typical routing algorithm for6LoWPAN, including Mesh-underand Route-over routing schemes, and compares their features in many ways in this thesis. After that,the performance of RPL and LOAD protocol has been analyzed by simulation.Finally, an improvement is proposed for LOAD. Then detailedly describes the implementationof the new protocol in NS-2simulation platform. The results show that: the improved protocol,which can effectively extend the survival time of the whole network, reduce the average routingload and the data transmission delay, is more suitable for energy-limited wireless sensor network,.
