Wireless Sensor Network can accomplish data collection, processing and transmission, and the data security issue is essential. Secure routing protocol for wireless sensor networks based on IPv6 can ensure data security of routing algorithms not by adding additional hardware conditions in wireless sensor networks.The thesis takes the characteristics of wireless sensor networks such as limitations of energy and storage into account, enhances the routing security for wireless sensor network through the improvement of existing routing protocols. Theoretical analysis and experimental evaluations are conducted and a prototype system on secure routing is designed in this thesis. The contributions are mainly shown in the following three aspects:(1) A network security protocol based on the MAC is proposed and this protocol changes the interface ID to generate a random virtual MAC address to achieve the security.(2) It presents a secure routing mechanism against wormhole attack in IPv6-based wireless sensor networks. The design of this routing mechanism can be divided into two phases: wormhole detection and defense, which is based on the average distance per hop in the network and the TTL of IP header. Besides, it does not require special hardware or high computation and storage capacity of the node, which is quite suitable for the resource-constrained IPv6-based wireless sensor networks. The simulation results show that the proposal is effective under the conditions of different network topology and wormhole parameters.(3) Design of a prototype system of secure routing in wireless sensor networks. The system uses InstantContiki and Cooja platform to establish the simulate process for transmitting data among nodes in wireless sensor networks. Through an intuitive way, it displays the data transmission in wireless sensor network by encrypting the plaintext into ciphertext, or the inverse operation.In conclusion, this thesis improves the security of routing in wireless sensor network and realizes the prototype for emulations.
