Along with the science and technology unceasing development, people’s demand for the images of high quality the cameras collected is on the rise. Study on the features of embedded processor and the image processing algorithm will help concentrate more attention on the combination of image processing techniques and embedded system.This project discusses the current study and the developing trend of the embedded image processor home and aboard. In the meanwhile, with the aim of enhancing the practicality of image processing algorithm, the embedded image processing system combining the embedded technology and image processing technology is designed. The system adopts the embedded Linux operation system and takes ARM microprocessor the core. In addition, with modularization as the designing concept, functions such as image acquisition,image processing.image calibration,network transmission can be performed:the image acquisition adopts the interface function that Video4Linux core driver affords; the image processing adopts the algorithm for the discrete cosine transform:image distortion adopts the method of calibration the distortion coefficient of camera:network transmission adopts TCP/IP protocol and socket processing.The thesis firstly introduces the development of the embedded system and the image processing technology. and then comes up with the whole designing plan of the hardware. What’s more, the thesis discusses the designing principles and the structures of the software and the hardware respectively with the features of chips. working method and wiring diagrams presented in detail.The thesis probes into the algorithm in terms of the image processor, and put forward the feasible method. In a word, the method designed in the study proves the practicality of embedded image processing system.
